Article: Yubin and SPICA’s Yang Jiwon show off their friendship

Former members of the ill-fated group Oh-Sonyeo, Wonder Girls’ Yubin and soon to debut SPICA’s Yang Jiwon got together.

Yubin posted a photo and a short message on the 6th on her twitter account, “It’s been a while since the 3 of us had gotten together! Jiwon, Yubin, and producer Mark~”.

In the photo, Yubin and Jiwon are seen making a cute face and producer Mark is joining in on the fun as well. It’s very heartwarming to see these two friends continue their friendship through everything they had to endure in their short careers.

Oh-Sonyeo was supposed to debut in 2007, but the financial difficulty of their management company led to the disbandment of the group. Afterwards Yubin, Uee, G.NA, and Hyosung have all debuted and are continuing a successful career in other agencies, but Yang Jiwon was the sole member of the group who did not debut. She was also a member of T-ara, but she pulled herself out of the group just before its debut.

Yang Jiwon will be debuting as a singer with SPICA, with significant support from label mate and one of biggest stars in Korea, singer Lee Hyori.

NEWS: Spica Yang Ji Won Talks Being the Last Five Girls Girl

Brand-new girl group Spica’s member Yang Ji Won spoke out her mind about debuting last among the former members of Five Girls. 

In a recent interview with enews Yang said, “All the other members who were once members of Five Girls are currently doing well. I feel kind of burdened about being the last one to make a debut but I’m confident about it.” 

Back in 2007, Five Girls attracted attention, appearing on MTV Korea’s real documentary Diary of Five Girls prior to its official debut. 

Just before the debut, however, the group unfortunately disbanded due to internal problems of its agency. Later, four of five members went on to debut in the music scene successfully: G.Na, After School’s Uee, Wonder Girls’ Yubin and Secret’s Jeon Hyosung. 

All four members have arguably become big stars (though some bigger than others), so many are wondering if the remaining member Yang Ji Won will follow in her once-teammates′ footsteps. 

Yang said truthfully, “Honestly, I’ve been really nervous about my debut until now. It took a long time for me to make my mind to sing again.” 

Yang continued, “It’s true that I feel pressure about being left alone among the former members, but I came to be positive and have belief after I met the nice members of Spica. Since I’ve been training and pursuing my dream for two years with the current members, my burdens have naturally disappeared. Now I’ll work with confidence.” 

Yang expressed her determination, “After Five Girls disbanded without even making a debut, I went through difficult times and wandered around aimlessly. But the thought that I wanted to be a singer again started to grow in my mind. And this time, I want to see it through till the end.”

NEWS: Five Girls’ Yang Ji Won to Debut with Spica

Yang Ji Won, previous member of the unfortunate girl group Five Girls, will be making her debut with the new group Spica.Five Girls is a girl group that disbanded in 2007 before it even made its official debut. The reason why this group is so well known, however, is because four of its five members are currently big stars in K-Pop: G.Na, After School’s Uee, Wonder Girls’ Yubin and Secret’s Jeon Hyosung. After the team disbanded, the other members went on to make big debuts, but Yang Ji Won was the only member left as a trainee - till now.

B2M Entertainment, which houses Lee Hyori, Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong, announced on January 3 that it would be releasing a new girl group named Spica with member Yang Ji Won in January.Park Na Rae, Kim Bo Ah, Park Ju Hyun and Kim Bo Hyung will be the other new names to debut through this group. According to a rep from their agency, the members have been training for this group as trainees for a long time. The rep explained that “they’re a team that can take on many different genres of music.”Before the release of its official album, Spica will be releasing a slow-tempo single titled Spitefully along with its music video on January 10.
